Q: Do I need to book a class or can I just turn up?
It’s necessary to book your class so I have all the equipment you need and so you don’t have an unnecessary journey if the class is full. To book a class, please contact me via email at kennedypauline@hotmail.com.
Q: Are your classes in person or online?
Currently, my classes are being run via Zoom. However, in-person classes and workshops will begin later in 2021 in Ware. I have restarted 1-2-1 sessions in-person, or these can be done over Zoom if preferred.
Q: I‘ve never done yoga before. Is that ok?
Every class I teach is suitable for complete beginners as I teach each posture in a progressive way, so that every student practises to just their own level at every class. My classes are supportive and friendly so you will be warmly welcomed.
Q: What do I wear to yoga?
Most people wear loose, comfortable clothing and layers are helpful, so an extra jumper is useful to pop on during relaxation. Also we wear socks with no shoes for class in winter and bare feet when warmer.
Q: Should I eat before class?
As with any other form of exercise, it’s best not to eat a large meal within 2 hours of class, but something small like a banana is fine.
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
Most students now bring their own mat, but I do have a couple of loan mats for complete beginners. Some students bring a belt, block and water bottle also.
Q: What is class etiquette?
It’s good to arrive around 10 minutes before class, or perhaps a little earlier for your first class. We switch phones off or put on silent so we don’t disturb other students. Shoes and coats etc. are left by the door.
Q: Can I take a class if I’m on medication or injured?
Yes in general, it is ok to come along, but please be sure to have a chat (or email) with me so I can discuss any precautions we need to take to ensure the class is safe for you.
Q: Why do I need to fill in a medical questionnaire?
As with any other type of exercise, your teacher needs to be aware of any existing ailments or injuries you have, to allow the class to be tailored for your safety. This information is kept safely and is strictly confidential. The questionnaire will be emailed to you at the time of booking.
Q: Is a 1-2-1 session with you helpful if I have specific problems or injuries?
Yes, an initial hour 1-2-1 session can be immensely helpful for you, as it allows you to ask questions and understand the benefits and exercises specifically suited to help you, before you come along to the class for the first time.
Q: Is yoga a religion?
Yoga is an ancient practice, originating in India, and is a philosophy with a fully holistic “whole person “ view ie mind, body, spirit. Some people find it helps them to deepen their relationship with their own religion.
